You don't have to thank people who respond, to your questions. It is a nice thing to do, however. It is also a polite gesture, on the part of the questioner, to thank the person who gave the best answer, to your question. Send them a short response, telling then, why you picked there answer as best, and send then a quick, thank you.

You can give a compliment to those who answered your question sufficiently when you choose the best answer. But, no you don't have to thank them individually, some questions get way too many answers, and it would be too time consuming.

No; Yahoo "thanks" them by giving them 2 points (whether they deserve it or not, incidentally--and that's why many people will post something that's truly idiotic, like, "I don't know the answer, but thanks for the two points!").
I think that it's very refreshing that you're asking this question. It shows that you were raised with some manners and that you're considerate of others. This quality is a relative rarity nowadays. So, THANK *YOU*!

it's nice of you to be so polite but i don't think you need to. it's understood as long as the answer is nice and/or helpful. ignore the rude remarks people sometimes make.

no. i usually just pick the best answer and in the feedback box, type in "thanks". they will get the message.
a lot of the people on here just type in silly 1 or 2 word answers to get points anyway.
