You usually don't charge per hour... it's per week. And this varies per age of child and your market. In my city it's about $100 per week per child ages 2-6 for example.

different areas charge different rates...have her call a few daycare as if she has a child to put there, and ask for rates, and whats included. some states limit the amount of children you can watch with out a license, and in your home. have her start off slow, And take a first aid class, as young children can come with many health issues including deadly allergies. Make sure she keeps health sheets on every child, and release forms in case of an emergency..last but not least small business insurance
Always protect your self from lawsuits which can be common in the child care industry, especially when some one doesn't want to pay

If she will be licensed, and have to carry proper insurance, etc. The average is weekly, all day cares charge on a weekly basis, whether the child is present or absent. 1st child, $150.00, if 2 somewhere around $210.00 per week. There are programs within the state your mom can sign up for, that the state helps to pay the fee to these child care places (it pays a portion based on parents income and number of dependents).

Well just to give you an idea, my baby brother (he'll be 2 years old on Sept. 11) goes to a babysitter and she charges $125 per week to watch him 8am-6pm. I'm not sure what she charges for older children, but i would guess she charges less since they go to school in the morning and are only there afterwards and dont require as much attention as a baby

Dont forget to put a $5 dollar a minute late fee if the child not picked up on time thats what they do around here like 6 pm is the pick up time and you show up at 6:05 thats 25 dollar late fee i never was late and thought this to be mean but they say too many parents go home and fall to sleep or go out and start getting later and later picking the kid(s) up they do that to put a stop to it

Well it depends on how many people will come. Like if a lot come then raise the price to about 15 to 20. But not many the about 10.

she should call around to the other day cares and pretend to have a child in order to ask their rates, and then charge rates comparable to those
