on what volume and chapter(episode) does the manga of fruits basket continue from the anime?

I'm not to sure what chapter but the whole thing about Kyo's other form happens in book 6.
While i did like the anime i really love the books . So if you've seen the anime i recommend you read the books.

The anime starts to diverge from the manga relatively early in the second half. I would not recommend skipping more than the first five volumes, or you will miss on some very substantial differences in the Sohmas -- in particular, Akito is a VERY different character in the manga. Honestly, though, the first two volumes are really the only ones that are virtually identical to the anime portion (I think episodes 1-8 or thereabouts), so if you can stomach it I would start near or at the beginning. Some of the funnier bits of the manga not adapted for the anime take place early on.

The end of the anime is volume 6, chapter 33 of the manga in which Tohru sees Kyo's ugliest form but comes home hugging the cutiest cat ever ^_^
However, the anime covers events all the way up to chapter 8 in the manga. As above poster said, events are out of order. In the manga, Tohru visits Yuki's brother's shop and does all that other stuff AFTER discovering Kyo's true form.
And then, I don't know where the anime got the final Tohru-Akito confrontation scene from... I haven't read that far in the manga.(Still, I'd rather the anime have ended with the "cat in arms" scene instead of the Akito confrontation and the meaningless "happy-happy" expressions that come after it.)

In the anime the story ends in episode 26. But in the Manga it ends in volume 6. But you have to see both the anime and the manga. They are different in many ways... For Example..... Akito in the Manga is awoman and in the anime is man......... Of course the only thing that I can tell you is the same Tohru goes with Kyou.... SAD for all the YUKI fans... some of the other answers are right. several anime series that have been put out by right stuf int'l don't follow through to the end of the manga series, like kare kano ending well before any serious issues get resolved. furuba anime ends at 8,[ignoring some of the out of sequence stuff] though the manga is still being put out in the u.s.a...funding problems, i believe. hurry up, tokyopop! more furuba!

The anime leaves off on volume 6.I'm not sure 'bout the chapter, but you should buy or borrow it to see for yourself.

they leave off on book 8!!!!!!! not 6!!!! The events are just outta order! I believe they finished that boook. Not sure bout the chap! u should read the whole this cuz u know the anime and manga are kinda different!!!!!!

well i think that's its on volume 13...the one with rin on the cover...chapter 77...i'm not sure if volume 14 has come out yet...if it has, i haven't seen it yet...
