about $800 a year. ;)
Seriously, sweet and simple was correct. There is no difference between the two. It's just that a Realtor pays around $800 to belong to an organization and takes an oath to adhere to a strong code of ethics while a sales agent saves $800 a year and doesn't take the oath, but still has to be ethical in representing his/her customers or risk losing their license.
And to be honest, I've seen some very unethical Realtors and some very ethical sales agents.
I hope that clears things up.
Regards

While both are members of the sales profession, a realtor is an individual specifically authorized to act as a liaison in transactions regarding real estate and buildings. A salesman or saleswoman is simply a person who sells merchandise of some sort.
In essence, a Realtor is a salesperson, although they denoted in a way to show their specific authority towards real estate.

Nothing. Realtors sell houses and go through the same closing training that all other sales professionals go through. To be a decent realtor you have to be a great saleperson -- which means you have to be talented in closing a deal (talking people into buying what you have to sell....while appearing to be 'helpful' even if helping isn't your greatest motivator)
There are, of course, realtors who truly care....just like there are polticians who truly care. The trick is knowing the difference.

The Realtor has the license, the training, has passed the test and has become certified. The sales people just work for them.
