Why do celebrities and sports figures only date or marry good looking or beautiful people?

You know the saying "beauty is only skin deep", Well that holds true for every one even celebrities. All people wish to be beautiful so if they can't then maybe their offspring can so choosing someone who is attractive gives your child or children a chance at not worrying about vanity issue while growing up People can be cruel. Also When you have money like them, it's easier to find something common with someone in the same yacht, rather then someone on a boat.

Everybody can be made to look good, for the right price. People who move in Hollywood circles have the money to get others to help them look good. So, chances are that they are superficial, like earlier answerers stated.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as well. I once knew a guy who said Denzel Washington's wife was not good looking, like her husband. He couldn't see why D. Washington would marry someone who looked like her. I happen to think Paulette (I think that is her name) is very beautiful, and she complements her husband in her appearance and stature. So, the rule of "beautiful people" with other "beautiful people" must have some exceptions, or misinterpretations, at best.

I think celebrities are like the rest of us, and the press does not like to take countless photos of "not-so-beautiful" celebrity couples. They are likely to be "out there" but we don't see them on the magazine covers every day.

Because they have more to choose from, and if you had as many choices. What would you choose? Good looking or ugly, nice or bad, or both. Good looking and nice, or Ugly and bad. We all know the answer. also why would the press want to show the celebrities that marry the ugly. Anyone who marries a celebrity that is ugly, can afford a good face lift or lipo suction so that they will look good.

I beg to differ! Here are a few examples,
Quentin Tarantino used to date Mira Sorvino, talk about Beauty & the Beast. Then, there was the short-lived marriage between Julia Roberts & Lyle Lovett.
Though for obvious reasons they (celebs, sports figures, etc) need "eye candy" on their arm to make their celebrity status more appealing probably.

It's simple. They are so stuck on themselves that they don't want to be seen with some ugly junkie off the streets or even the nice guy next door. They have to be with the best of the best, all the time. They probably think that being seen with anything other than a hot actor or actress will ruin their reputation.
