I seriously doubt your friend is completely color blind, as in sees all colors as if they were the same. That is an extremely rare disorder. Many people, particularly men are red-green blind and there are many other forms of color blindness, but all of them would be able to appreciate a color display.

Generally, people who are color blind can still see the majority of colors. It may be only two groups of colors that they cannot distinguish - blues vs. purples or reds vs. oranges, for instance. You can see this in any standard color blindness test you may be required to take for whatever reason.
So maybe the color of the mp3 player a color that they can see.

most color blind people are just to red and green, and its not that they can't see it, its when the two colors are right next to eachother, (like a pale red and pale green,) the eyes cannot see the difference in the two similar shades, and the color blends into another color

WHY would this be considered immoral? The guy can buy any kind of mp3 player he wants. If he's spending his own money, he can decide for himself whether he wants to spend that little bit extra.

colorblind doesnt necessarily mean that your friend cannot see color, sometimes it just means that they cannot differentiate between say, red and green. so depending on the extent of your friends colorblindness, what your other friend said is somewhat wrong. It was your first friends choice to buy it and I certainly hope that he/she knows that they're colorblind, so they understand their decision. All in all, your second friend was out of line and i hope they apologize

Colorblind doesn't mean you see everything in black and white. It means you can confuse red and green, or green and blue, depending on what type you have.
