You have to go to undergrad (4 years), then dentist school (for a dentist) or medical school (for a pediatrician) for 4 years. Then, if you are a pediatrician, you have to specialize for another 2 years.

Dentist would be 3-4 years undergrad and 4 years dentistry school.
Pediatrician would be 3-4 years undergrad, 4 years med school, 3-5 years residency.

Typically for any medical field you'll need to go to a four year college (majoring in something like "pre-dental" for example) and then to a professional medical school for anywhere from 2-4 years. This varies between professions and schools.

I'd suggest checking the "careers" portion of www.ecos.princetonreview.com . You'll be able to find more details on the schooling, wages, working hours, etc for these careers.

Dentist - bachelor's degree plus 3-4 years

Pediatrician - bachelor's degree + 4 years med school + 2-4 years to specialize (I would guess)

For both, usually somewhere around 4 years for an undergraduate degree, around 4 years for the doctorate degree. But there are programs that are exceptions to this rule, some more, some less.

About four years for undergraduate education then at least four more years for medical school. Plus an extra two to three years for whatever you plan to specialize in.

At least 5 years. Maybe less if you take a lot of courses at the same time.

most med schools only need 90 hours of undergrad classes. then med school will be another 2-3 years of actual classes and then more years of residency.
