I must start off by saying i have never takin' an illegal drug, ever, in my life!!

im taking a pre-employment drug test tomorrow morning at 8:30am. I recently took a night-time sleeping aide and im worried it will have some negatvie effects on the results of my drug test. Do I have anything to worry about?

I would say probably not, but if you are asked if you have taken anything recently that might impact the test, be honest about it. You think they wouldn't hire you for taking an over the counter FDA approved drug.

Unlikely. It depends on what sleeping aid you took. For example, Tylenol PM has Diphenhydramine HCl in it which is a common antihistimene found it drugs such as Benadryl. Unless your drug test is EXTREMELY sensitive, it won't show up. A standard drug test would be looking for narcotics, THC, and other "mainline" drugs. It would take a very specific drug test, probably via a blood sample, to find Diphenhydramine HCl or other sleep aids.

no don't worry and they will ask if you are one any prescription or non prescription drugs and how much but it on there just so they know and when you see the Dr they will ask about it, just say that you had a little trouble sleeping and that that is not normal. that normally you sleep fine. it is not a big deal the Dr will blow it off as nothing, i was on steroids when i had to take an employment physical and had a rash over my entire body, just told him it was something i was exposed to at my other job and it is getting better. and if he just blew that off then he will blow sleeping aide

no, as long as it was over the counter or if it was prescription you had a prescription for it. while i was in school doing internships i had to take 3-4 drug tests and i always had to list all the medication i had taken in the past 6 weeks. as long as you are legally taking the drug you have nothing to worry about

No, today's drug tests are much more precise. It wouldn't hurt to work it into the conversation, but it's not like they are going to think you're a crack smoker because you took some Nyquil.
