What is the point of them and what is the big deal about them?

A promise ring is a commitment to the other person, to be their one and only, be with them exclusively, to love and cherish them, and to say yes when asked to marry them.
My boyfriend gave me a promise ring a few months ago and we plan to get married, not sure when tho. He does plan to tell his whole family at the family reunion this "August that we plan on getting married!! :) He knows that he has to ask me to marry him before I will marry him, and I know that he is saving up for a ring for me.

i beleive your promising a friendship with that girl only when you give a promise ring.

To never see other men, to say yes, when proposed to, to commit to him/her, to never change your mind. Coomittment is an important part of life!
