I am sure there will be an upgrade package.

One point to be aware of though. If you decide to upgrade, make sure you are willing to part with some of your hardware and software programs. When I upgraded to XP, many of my software programs would no longer work. I also wound up replacing my trusty old printer because the company did not provide new drivers to support it. Perhaps all the companies were in collusion with each other . . . I mean what better to get a lot of business!

You need to make sure your PC meets the requirements for vista, and optionally the Aero UI. Then you can purchase Windows Vista Home Plus or Windows Vista Ultimate Edition. Those are the only two versions of Windows Vista supporting the Media Center. You can download Windows Vista Beta 2 (which is Windows Vista Ultimate Edition) now while you are officially waiting for Windows Vista to be released.

To upgrade your Windows XP system to Windows Vista, you may need to install new hardware on your machine, such as a new processor or graphics card. You can evaluate your current PC and check the minimum requirements for Vista @ http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/default.mspx .

Keep in mind, only the BETA (test) version of Vista is available at this time; the full version will be available in early 2007, and may require some hardware upgrades.

:-)

You'll have to buy the upgrade in order to do so. There will be a Vista Media Center edition that comes out at the same time. Unless you're willing to risk the beta download, you'll have to pay.

You can download the Windows Vista from 'http://www.microsoft.com/' or you can buy the genuine Windows Vista.

make sure you have 512 ram or more. make sure your video card is 128MB and your processor is at least a 1.5GHz. If they don't meet that specs don't do it yet. Remember this is still beta testing and they are still working bugs out. You might not have a driver needed to run something on your computer.
