My computer's security keeps warning me about running files from an unknown site, and it's making me worried about viruses.

I think most of them are, but they do annoy you trying to sell you things. I got some from somewhere and deleted them a couple days later.

No if they are ads than NO for sure that will for sure give you a virus or spyware or adware.
