If so besides her being a transexual what was the point of the movie and why was her/his son so messed up and gay, did he clean himself up at the end

The son is not gay ..he's just a street hustler trying to survive in the world..he was sexually abuse by his step-father. Despite the intention of his new found grandparents. He eventually become a gay porn actor(the only way he knows how to make money by using his body, at one point before he found out his relationship with felicity he wanted to marry her or even offer her sex to comfort her.). But we can't tell in his future he will clean up his life...the story just end there....I think the point of the film is for Felicity character come to term with her past before she can move on to the next level. One of them being completing her journey of transformation sexually....

The son is messed up yes, but he is not Gay.
He HUSTLES and most hustlers, especially street hustlers are not Gay.
He was sexually abused by his stepfather, he thinks the only thing he is good at is sex as he states early on in the movie.
He is very comfortable with his situation and does not see that he is drowning himself.
At points in the movie you see rays of hope for him when he talks about zoology and that he could do that, he seems to be doing good. He is very honest about who he is and his "brighter" outlook changes when he find that "Bree" has lied about being a guy in transition and slowly he heads back to the comfortable thinking of his life as is. Due to the dishonesty. It only reels him deeper when he finds "Bree" to be his father.

I feel that in the end of the film, they understand each other and "Bree" welcomes him into her home, and does not try to change him and gives him that beer and listens to his life of gay porn,without judging, but I feel he knows he is better and felt it on his journey to LA, he will move forward in life with the help of "Bree" but as in real life it is a slow process, but the hope is there..if you watched and understood the connection throughout.
