If you have concerns about bringing souvenirs, the best advice I can give is to keep the receipts from any/all purchases you make, so that when you return you can answer any questions that could arise in customs and you have documentation for everything.

When i was in Jordan, i bought souvenirs and brought them home with me. I was sure that I got them home. i wouldn't trust the mail services because of breakage and theft.

Take them with you- cheaper and safer than postage and the border/customs people there are very relaxed. PS. Don't miss the Dead Sea or Wadi Rum desert!

The best thing is to take them with you. But if you have too much stuff, then you have the option of paying for excess baggage if you can afford that, or you can try to ship it as air cargo.
