Get an intel Celeron Processor with more than 1.8Ghz and a motherboard with all the integrated VGA, Sound, LAN and modem plus a 512 MB Ram. Get a budget casing @ less than 60 bucks and it comes with a power supply..Then assemble it and that will be ur <$500 PC

perhaps..... i recommend you buying a cpu/motherboard combo which is cheaper, and you dont need to buy the cpu or mother board seperate, thats kinda the whole point of the combo factor... anyway, that'll run ya about 250 bucks for a good one so what are we down to? $250? ok, buy an ethernet card for internet, a good video card, floppy disk, and decent hard drive and cdrom. that'll be the rest of the $500. so now you are broke. no more money. hmm, i forgot, you need a case.... now your in $100 debt. ha.

To to Tiger Direct and order everything you need. I built a screamin machine for $1600. I'm sure you can do it for under $500.

Just make sure you match up compatible parts.

If you don't need a monitor or speakers, or accessories like a printer or other useless devices, buy second hand, and build first hand, this is the only way to build for under $500.00

I doubt it, if you have the money, it will cost more like $700 at least to build a decent one.
