I would suggest starting off in your living room. Let her get over the giggling...it will get old eventually. You could also go to a place that's 'off the beaten path'. A place where you usually do not go and are sure you will not run into people you know. If the whole dancing thing is important to you. You should also let her know how serious it is to you and that she should try harder for YOU.

Alcohol also helps!

She should take some beginning lessons without you. The teacher should approach the lesson in a mechanical manner. Break it down biomechanically. Not the touchy feeley "shake your booty" routine. When she 's rid of the jits, join her!

Dont push her. Start with slowdancing and when your dancing with her tell her shes doing great and shes beautiful and things like that and make her feel good and she will want to dance with you more.

Try something slow and work up, lead her in the dance, that's YOUR job. Make her look good, like she knows what she's doing, that is also your job.
Good Luck

Guide her along by using your hands to move her shoulders, hips, where-ever you step she will follow. But be gentle, she's not a doll. Trust me, she'll feel safer with you holding her and touching her. Letting you guide at first will help her get in the rhythm and loosen up.

if she's stiff, she's better off not dancing. And remember, a girl who can't dance is whack in the sack also.
