Not a chance. In the American League Liriano or Papelbon have it locked up.

In the AL Melky doesn't have a chance at ROY. His stats aren't as impressive as those from other rookies. Other more impressive rookies are Papelbon (closer), Francisco Liriano (starter) or even Mike Napoli (catcher) who all play far more difficult positions as well.
Melky's #'s:
.250 BA, 1 HR, 17 RBI, 22 runs
compared to the following guys
Papelbon #'s:
0.24 era, 39 k, 5 w, 23 saves
Liriano's #'s:
7-1 w/l, 2.17 era, 74 k, 19 walks, 1.06 whip
Napoli's #'s:
.297 BA, 8 HR, 18 RBI, 23 runs
And as far as the gold glove I think there are other better defensive outfielders, like Grady Sizermore, Carl Crawford, Torii Hunter, Ichiro or even Vernon Wells.

Nope. Melky's been solid in the field but not a gold glover. Outfield assists are often a misleading stat because they are usually highest for a player with only a decent arm, because people everyone knows not to run on the players with really good arms. Sort of like looking at how many CS a catcher has.

Cabrera's high assist total has been mostly due to teams testing his arm out (because they are unfamiliar with it).
Papelbon has been, arguably, the ROY, Cy Young, and MVP so far this season. He has been lights out in a Mariano Rivera type of way. Teams are managing the 6th and 7th differently because they know the game is over when they get to him. So in short, even with all the Yankee hype, Cabrera stands no chance.

Neither. The AL Rookie of the Year will go to someone better, and there are better OF to give the gold glove to.
