Well.. we think that mystical creatures are more of a fantasy or a complete illusions.

But here's the question I ask you.
Where could have people invented such creatures, talk about them, record about them in different parts of the world --about the same creature?..

For example- dragons- sure they are not existent now- but if so many cultures believed in the existence of a dragon so many years ago- doesn't it make sense that there was a creature that was similar to the dragon's description? If we have evidence that there were sharks so big-- such as the Megaladon- why can't we have these such creatures as the dragon?

Concerning the same thing with unicorns or fairies- there might have not been actual little people flying around- but maybe some other creature- or living thing that reminded humans of something. And of course- thru time, records change, oral tradition gets passed on and exaggerated up till a point in which people stop believing or think the idea is so far fetched from the reality of truth.

So- I personally am pretty neutral in this situation. I don't believe that trolls are sitting under bridges or of that nature- but people that believe in mystical creatures which could have existed..
those people should not be considered as wackos- as you put it.

But otherwise--- if someone wants to believe in something- it doesn't matter whether it is actually real or not- because by just believing- the reality of if appears to be true to that person- and that's what matters.

More important -- do you believe in spell check? I think you're referring to "mystical" creatures and no, I don't. I have enough trouble believing some of the things I see on a daily basis to even ponder mystical creatures. I'm still trying to find a good driver in Los Angeles. Now THAT'S a mystical idea.

I believe that they existed in some form to someone at one time. They may have been a horse standing next to a tree branch or a manatee feeding it's young on her back in the ocean!! I would never say they don't exist. Things like mystical creatures make magic what it is in books, movies, and Christmas time in the company of a child who still believes!!

And the idiot thing...not nice!! ;o)

if you believe in god, you could atleast accept that there is other thing out there that is not seen, hell we havent even seen the world as we should, I personalliy believe in every thing but santa and gold at the end of the rainbow. Oh and you can find unicorns in the bible, but its not the same as the horse most expect

Wackos? That's somewhat judgemental, don't you think? One never really knows what is out there. The world is so large. I suggest you keep an open mind to things.
