My daughter spilled diet coke on her laptop when she was trying to get it away from her cat that had chewed through the power cord. Now, even when she uses her brothers power cord (same laptops) it still won't power up. It's only a year old, what are the chances we can get it fixed?

She put it aside and waited for a week, then when she turned it back on it worked. It is working great now.

Slim hope you got the acadental damage protection on it. If you did then your good to go. If not see if you can add it real quick if not your screwed. It might be cheaper to get a new laptop and get rid of the cat then get that one fixed. Check to see how much it would cost. I suggest in the future to get accedental damage protection on the laptops that way if this happends again or if you drop it or anything they will fix it for free it cost about 2 to 3 hundred but is better then the sitsuation that your in.

They are going to have to change all the inner workings, maybe even the motherboard. She should have spilled Sprite instead - laptops hate the diet stuff.

Just kidding - yes, liquid disables the chips and processors.
