Yea, I saw that little article today when I went over to NBA.com. It's a cool looking box with the NBA logo in silver. Remember how during the 1996 season, they had the NBA logo in gold because it was the 50th anniversary of the league? Maybe, since it's 2006 and now the 60th year, the NBA logo will be in silver?? I guess we'll have to wait and see what's inside the box on Wednesday.

The black box definitely contains a new type of basketball. There was a report in Boston Globe or Boston Herald about the Celtics working out the draftees with the new NBA basketball.

I think it's a new basketball - probably one of the smooth ones without the dimples. Nike sells a TON of these and their in just about every sporting goods store. I have one and it's a little difficult to get used to, but they are much easier to palm. If this is what it is there could be some pretty crazy plays next year...

its definatly a new type of ball. which is stupid! you can tell because if you click on the story on the nba site it shows you a larger image and the way the box opens (where the hinge is) there is DEFINATLY a ball in there.
p.s stern, the dress code and the perimeter contact rule all suck.

a new 2 face basketball much like the euro league ball. it does not contain the two-tone color.
