How many cents are in a dollar? That's how many centimeters are in a meter. (100 cm = 1 m)
There are ten millimeters in each centimeter.
So... 5 m = 500 cm, which is 5000 mm.

Basically, this is easy.
Consider that you have 24 meters that you need to convert into centimeters.
Look at it this way:
1 meter = 100 centimeters
So to convert meters into centimeters multiply the 24 by 100 and you get 2400 centimeters.
1 centimeter = 100 millimeters
Consider that you have 2400 centimeters that you need to convert into millimeters.
So to convert centimeters into millimeters multiply the 2400 by 100 and you get 240000 millimeters.
If you need to convert from millimeters to centimeters divide by 100 and same with centimeters to meters.

Metrics are always in groups of ten. A centimeter is one hundredth of a meter. A millimeter is a thousandth of a meter. Takes a good $4.00 calculator.

Wow, okay first question move the decimal place two spots to the right and for the second move it one more. 45 Meters = 4500 Cm = 45 000 mm. I must say that that is a very rudimentary question. you need to understand the roots of the metric system a bit better before you move on...
