If you are an American sports fan you should know that Americans like high scoring sporting events. This is one reason that football (American football) is so popular in the states. Baseball is yet another popular sport and compared to most other sports, baseball too, is a high scoring sport.

Now, look at other sports. Sports such as hockey, soccer, etc. By rights, soccer should be one of the most popular of all sports, even in the US, but it's not. This is because of the low scoring feature of soccer, and hockey, too.

It sure makes sense to have soccer as the #1 sport in the US. Any body can play it, at grade school age. In high school, they start separating the good from the not so good, and by the time college comes around, those who still play are practically semi-pros.

This is how many Americans feel because they are used to sports where each teams scores many times in one game. With soccer, scoring is a BIG DEAL, and therefore it happens a lot less than in other sports. It's just a matter of understanding the game and being used to it. Once this happens it's actually a lot of fun to watch. If it was boring, the world cup wouldn't be THE BIGGEST sport even in the world.

because ppl usually like to play football (soccer) if not that they at least want to go to the stadium to see it up close and have fun and enjoy the pulse of the crowd and do the waving thingy and swing their shirts around and root for their favourd and it will be really really fun for football fans

It all depends on who you're watching and what point in the game it is. The first ten or 20 minutes of each half are usually uneventful, especially if the teams are bad.

Maybe you should stop watching matches involving the US. It can't be much fun watching your national team getting beat all the time? The rest of the world seems to like it.

Enough said.

Football is not boring..........not even on tv. Maybe you lack understanding of the game...............so what if it's not high scoring. Appreciate the skills and talent of the players!
