Yes it is not a pleasant notion/view of an otherwise simple and innocent tale...........
However there are innumerable referrences to such notions in most classic stories such as Red R H.........It boggles the mind.......But what does it say....about humanity.......
I know i prefer not to think beyond the basic story that is represented....but as an artist i cannot hide from the threat of it ....but confront it

hmm... i hope not. The facts are that she goes to Grandmothers house to be subjected to an animal attacking, chasing and eating her... I don't think rape as the integral theme to a Childrens story would have a very long shelf life, however hidded the subject is... It may well be a euphemism for something else more adult in theme.
I think the concept is very interesting though... I will give it some more thought!
Thanks for the brain fodder, it will keep me busy on my train journey tomorrow.

Good grief! I mean, it sounds like a very good philosophical study of the human psychological thought, but when you get down to the core subject of what you have dared to insinuate, it is nothing more than a sick representation of the completely barbaric mind that you (or someone you listened to) has! How about you learn to do some real research and find out where these stories really came from! What purpose did they really have! It and others like it came from the reinforcement of Biblical and extremely conservative (at times restrictive) behavioral expectations for children of the era of their creation!

I thought it (the actual name) was a euphemism for the start of the menstrual cycle, thus the beginning of womanhood. The whole story is about female sexuality, both the dark and the light side of it.

Develop your theory. What does the wolf symbolize? Grandma?
How about "over the hills and through the woods"?
So, what would it mean then when the woodsman kills the wolf with his axe? What about the cookies in the "basket"?

Reminds me of the joke where her punchline is "you're gonna eat me like the story says."
