I'm Filipino and I consider myself Asian. Yes, perhaps the Spaniards did invade the Phillippines but we also have been influenced by other cultures such as the Chinese, Japanese and even American. I feel your confusion though.

Asians. Philippine history says the earliest people in the Philippines were Indonesians and Malay. The Hispanic influence came much later.
