6 2/3 * 5 1/4 = 20 3rds * 21 4ths (see why?) = 420 12ths =

35 pounds.

to check your answer, do the whole containers first and then the fraction. 6 containers of clay will weigh 31 1/2 pounds (see why?) and 2/3 of a container will weigh
2 3rds * 21 4ths = 42 12ths = 3 1/2 pounds, for a total weight
of 35 pounds.

good luck!

5 1/4 = 21/4

(20/3)(21/4)
same as saying
(21/3)(20/4)
7 * 5
