Running Win XP on a Dell PC. Had to reformat hard drive due to malware infection. Everything works fine but my screensaver will NOT initialize. Tried every sort of check possible. Screensaver just won't initialize. Any ideas?

I've got some posibilities for you

1. Your setting for the wait time is too long. Maybe...
2. Try to reinstall it, shut down, turn it on again and see if it works.
3. You haven't install any screen saver.
4. Check your mouse cable, sometimes, it got a bit stuck on other cable and make it move slightly so the screen saver won't come
5. Earthquake move your mouse! RUN!

try waiting for the screensaver , because your seettings for screen saver will show you how long it takes for the screensaver to initialize. simply right click on the desktop, clcik on properties, screensave and there you go.

Turn off the screen saver. Shut down and reboot, turn on the screen saver.

It should work now.

uninstall the screensaver, then reinstall it, turn off your computer, then turn it back on to see if this will initilize your screensaver.
