ho to i devide fractions for example 2/8 and 1/4

Take the reciprocal of the denominator and multiply the two together.

For example 2/8 divided by 1/4 is the same as 2/8 times 4/1. And 2/8 times 4/1 = 8/8, or 1.

Check the source to see an image of this represented with graphics (so it looks more normal):

Another way to think of it is 2/8 = 0.25 and 1/4 = 0.25. 0.25 divided by 0.25 = 1 (as anything divided by itself is 1 (except for 0)).

Please Note: the people that are getting 1/16 as the answer are wrong.

you invert the other fraction and multiply them. Like 2/8 divide 1/4 will be 2/8 times 4/1 = 8/8 = 1

2/8 devided 1/4, u swap the 1/4 and make 4/1

so you have 2/8 times 4/1

which is 8/8 (since 2x4 is 8 and 8x1 is 8)

simplified to 1/1

divide by the denominator and multiply by the numerator. think out what problem you want to solve. in this example, what are 2 8th's of 1/4? one 8th of 1/4 is 1/32nd and two of them are 2/32nds or 1/sixteenth. more generally, a/b divided by c/d = ac/bd and then reduce by eliminating the common factors.
2/8 divided by 1/4 = 2*1/4*8 = 2/32 = 1/16.

good luck!

(2/8)(1/4)
same as
