I was wondering, what's a quality oil for a high performance car? Her engine is 10 cylinders V 90°, DOHC 4 valves, 18° crankpin offset.

Mobil 1 and others are "good" synthetic oils and, probably the best thats available if you don't want to look any further than WalMart or your local parts store. The BEST synthetic oil available though is AMSOIL. They have a specific synthetic oil for High Performance machines like yours. Do yourself a favor and check out these links and decide for yourself.

This first link is AMSOIL's laboratory testing comparing AMSOIL to all other leading synthetic motor oils .... Including Mobil 1, Castrol, Royal Purple, Golden Spectrum and more.

Think about it. If AMSOIL was claiming to be better than all of these other "competitors oils and, there was evidence to show that it wasn't true, don't you think Mobil 1 or Castrol or any of the others would dispute it !? The reason they don't dispute it is because they CAN'T.

Then, there's the professional endorsements and customer testimonials:

But, the difference really shows when you try it for yourself and experience the Improved MPG, better performance, smoother shifts, less engine noise and lower operating temperatures than with ANY other conventional or synthetic motor oil or additive.
AMSOIL also offers the best synthetic gear lubes, greases, automatic transmission fluids, two-cycle oil, and marine / diesel oil. The best air and oil filtration and bypass filters and more.

You want "good" oil ? Go to WalMart. You want the BEST ? Go here .....

*** Also, the part about the Manufacturer voiding your warranty if you don't use the oil they specify is not only BS but, against the law !!! The Magnuson-Moss Act of 1975 states that if a manufacturer claims that the use of any product (including motor oil ) other than what they recommend, will void your warranty, they have to provide the recommended product to you FREE OF CHARGE. They can recommend a minimum standard for the product and AMSOIL not only meets but, EXCEEDS every standard ..... They even back that up in writing too.

Most oils are pretty good. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

The harder you drive it, you may want to use a racing oil. It has different additives for extreme use (more metallic zinc, anti foaming, high temperature oxidation resistance but less dispersants, detergents, pour point depressants). You need to change racing oil quite frequently and that makes it a bad choice for street duty.

My favorites are Kendall GT-1 for conventional oils and Mobil 1 for synthetics.

If you go to a car place such as Pep Boys and ask what they recommend you could probably trust the answer you get. Or have you checked on line to see if you can compare different oils there? Try to check out at least three different places and then choose what you think is the best.

Whatever oil the manufacturer recommends using anything else would void any implied warranties

You have to run amsoil out to 25,000 miles for it to be cost affective.....if you want to, go ahead.....

I'd use mobil 1, easier to find.... and cheaper. Pennzoil platinum is another good syn to look at.
