I agree, the answer depends. My opinion is this. I have a bachelors in Finance. I graduated top of my class. I've been recruited by tons of insurance companies and banks for sales jobs. If you are in finance, please dont settle for sales. Anybody, thats right, anybody can sell. I have friends who work for banks and insurance companies as mortgage officers or in some sales related position that have degrees in chemistry and health science. If you talk to sales recruiters they will tell you themselves that they arent looking for any particular degree holder. If you have a finance degree, take advantage of it.

The short answer is "it depends". That is it depends on your current work experience and what you want to do in life. I have a finance degree and am now an exec at a mid-sized SW company. I started doing corporate finance, decided I didn't like it and then moved to management consulting. There, I got a chance to work with a lot of people with different backgrounds and decided that consulting was the life for me.

Hey I am also currently studying in Finance. Alot of my friends have graduated already and have found interesting jobs in many different places. Most work at the bank, one of them even became a mortgage specialist. My cousin sells insurances at a bank. Another friend works in an engineering firm - in the corporate department, where he works alongside lawyers that analyze contracts, and he goes over the financial aspect of the deals - whether it's a good opportunity or not. You can also work in the stock market - you can be a broker and give advice to investor, place their money. Hope this helps, goodluck!
