Sven Goran Eriksson say's he doesn't play enough games for Chelsea to be part of the national team, And then Selects Theo Walcott who 1) Has never played a 1st Team game for his club Arsenal and 2) Sven has never seen Walcott play any game before
Ian Wright (Ex Arsenal and TV Pundit), Shaun's adopted father, believes that Shaun's been left out of the England Squad because of the abuse He (Ian) has given Sven on TV regarding his tactics and Team selection.
But that is up for debate. But it does seem strange that Wright-Phillips has been left out.

Because he wasn't in Sven's final 23 man Squad, after the list is finalised he can't pick outside the 23 hence the reason everyone is complaining about the lack of strikers.

this could be the scenario. a very high profile manager takes his team to the finals and then is caught out in a few minor indiscretions. but His employers who are men above , and would never allow themselves to be put in that position, by that i mean caught, tell him he is to be sacked. but they will pay him his full terms wages. and he has to keep working until after the final. and will be expected to win the final. and will be expected to bring the best possible team of highly trained fully fit players at his disposal to the finals. and the manager says he will. of course, I'll WIN the world cup for you. WITH A SMILE ON HIS FACE!!!!!!

the official answer is that he didn't play enough first team games with chelsea. I just think he isn't good enough Lennon is a much better player.

could be that he is nursing injuries or on the bench cos he hasnt proved himself that he can play a better game in worldcup. Or may be he wasnt called to play for his country.
