Preston Reed.
He's an awesome fingerstyle guitar player. I recently saw him in concert and was blown away by his technique and style. I bought two of his cd's on the spot and will absolutely see him in concert again the next time he's touring the States.

Part of some reviews:
"Within 10 seconds of listening to him, you'll realize just how little innovation is on display by the McBands receiving heavy rotation on MTV or Your Local Alternative Radio Station. ... Reed is a treasure, an absolute must-listen for those even tangentially interested in acoustic guitar music, and a one-of-a-kind innovator who will change the way you approach the guitar in both your listening and your performing. This depends on what you mean by "best" and do you mean now, or ever?
The best current guitar players in the rock area would be (my opinion only) Joe Satriani, Ritchie Sambora, Steve Vai, Greg Howe, and some kid that hasn't even made it out of his bedroom yet.
For country, I would say Dan Huff, Johnny Hiland, Brent Mason, and Vince Gill.
Best ever I would say Andres Segovia, Merle Travis, Scotty Moore, Jimi, and Chet Atkins
