Actually, the rock face was stronger in the middle in order to support such a robust figurehead. Did you ever notice that when
you are looking at them, they are looking back? Kinda freaky !

Each president was chosen for his role in the nation's birth and growth. George Washington signifies the struggle for independence and establishment of the Republic. And Theodore Roosevelt stands for progressive causes such as conservation and business reform.

The man was groundbreaking and very well admired, not to mention he shaped the modern american presidency into what it is today. He's one of the greatest presidents to ever live, and he deserves his spot up there, perhaps even in the middle(although I wouldn't have put him there). Maybe it was for purely aesthetic reasons.
