It should just over write the old one, I do not see any reason to uninstall first.

some answers are half right! Here's how:
Start / Settings / Control Panel. On the left side near the top is a place to clk for "Remove Windows Components". Clk on that, scroll down to Windows Media Player and UNcheck the box. Then do the "Apply etc."
The Media Player will be gone.

hey, go to the control panel > add or remove programmes & then a list of installed prog. on ur computer will come.Frm thr u can uninstall windows media player 11.

Ok if you currently have WMP11 you need to go to [start] [control panel] [add remove programs] When you get there make sure the "updates" box is ticked in the top right corner. Scroll all the way to the bottom and WMP11 should be under one of the updates. Hope that helps!!!

just download the new version and it automatic change from 10 to 11
