Just to state that My question has been troubling me for ages, I always wondered if it is possble for one man to consume an entire ocean of water, I know that some of you may say this is not possible due to the volume of our stomaches, but I have noticed on occasion I have drank ofer 4 litres of water and not rid my body of it, if you were to drink fast enough, could a man drink the ocean, please debate this.

According to the U.S. Navy, there are actually 361.2 quintillion gallons of ocean water. It would take quintillions (that's 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000) of years for one person to drink this water, but since it would all be coming back out as urine, you'd never get anywhere. Then again, you'd die after a glass or two as people can't drink sea water.

It's only possible if you're one of the five chinese brothers of story book fame.
Actually, weather or not a man (or woman) could drink as much water as in an ocean in a lifetime is debatable, but drinking any amount of the actual ocean isn't. You drink too much salt water and you die.

No! in fact salt water is bad for your body. You should never ever drink water from the ocean. It has adverse effects on your body systems and it will kill you.

Never in a month of Sundays....even IF volume wasn't a problem (and it's a BIG one), between sheer toxicity and upsetting your electrolyte balance that much salt would kill you.
