It's a coin flip. He actually had 201 coming into this year, by the way. He's up in the 220s now.

Griffey Junior was the youngest to every major HR plateau up until 400. Injuries, bad teams, even walks (as Bonds has found and Pujols will find) can slow you down.

I'd compare it to Dwight Gooden. At a young age, he was on pace to win more than 400 games and be one of the two or three best pitchers statistically of all time.

You just can't tell the future.

Come'on. where u gettting ur stats? Albert Pujols has 227 HRs NOT 400 sumthin'. yes he is only 26 yrs old.
he started playing when he was 21, and so far till 2006 he has been averaging 40 hr's per season. SO if he plays till he is 41 (like the GREAT BARRY) he is likely to pass everyone and set a new record.
20 season * 40 Homeruns (perseason) = 800 HRs!!!

I think he and A Rod definitely have a chance at it, if they both stay healthy. Griffey should've done it, then he became a baby and started getting hurt all the time. Even though A Rod is playing in Yankee Stadium which favors lefties, he showed it didn't matter last year when he set the single season record for home runs hit by a righty in that park. I think both of them will (could) end up around 800. O yeah, and i hope Bond's head explodes or something.

If he stays healthy, yes. I remember my friends and I asking the same question of Ken Griffey Jr back in the mid 90's and we know how that's going...BTW, he's 26 and has 227 HR...

Its hard to say look at griffey he was no his way. a few years of injuries and he's going to a hard time finishing 3rd alltime.
so it's still to early to say but Albert is put up the bombs to challange the record.

Nope. Henry Aaron's feat was remarkable. It looks like Barry Bonds, issues and all, may not get there.

I doubt it. I would think Alex Rodriguez might have a shot at it though, if he stays healthy.
