Wrestling as we know it today is usually scripted. It's basically a "soap opera" for men.
The wrestlers are now required to be in an actor's guild, if I recall my information right. A friend of mine was a professional wrestler for a while.
The moves you see are real, these people are trained professionals and can do real wrestling moves, but the action and outcome you see in the is scripted. This is for audience entertainment. Most of these guys seem mean in the ring, but are really great people in real life. There are a few asses though. Like the rest of us, this is just a job for them.
The women are there for show only usually and are told what to wear and how to act for the most part.

I'm a huge wwe wrestling fan, and yes most of the matches are scripted, but I'm not so sure about the hard core matches, mick Foley has probably been beat down more than any other wrestler out ther and from what i see hes really getting his *** kicked. just watch wreslemania 22 the match between edge and Foley looked pretty real too me.

nope everything is staged and the outcomes are known. however think about it if you were dropped on your back flat on a pad from 7 feet you would have the breath knocked of you or feel something. Also it is a fact that jumping from a height of one meter give s a person enough force to break their own knee. So there is some force and power involved.

Wrestling is not really real but they just want you to think it is real that is why they always say children don't try this at home because they know that it is dangerous for children who may want to try it.

Read up on the books and articles done on WWE - all of them indicate it is done for "entertainment purposes" only. Scripts are done very far in advance. So...if it's real, so is the tooth fairy.

No. That's why it's called world wrestling entertainment. It's meant to entertain.

I'd say it's 100% scripted, but only 2% of it is"real".
(That 2% = inadvertent injuries, bleeding and deaths caused by the stunts.)

No way, It's all just an act, fake completely, If you actually watch closely and notice every move you'll realize it's all acted out
