There are cases of women physically abusing men, but it is rarely reported as the men tend to be too embarrassed to report that they have been hit by the women in their lives. It is hard to tell, what the percentage is, again as it is rarely reported, but I believe that it is probably approx. 80/20 percent men abusing women rather than vive versa. Please note that there are other forms of abuse that don't actually involve hitting someone, if the person throws things during a rage, or threatens or intimidates or even simply yelling at someone can be very damaging as it instills fear in their partner.

Women can be abusive just like men, physically as well as as emotionally. I've been there and it was no fun, I recall getting a candle broke over my head, but I never hit back. That was 20something years ago,and the laws have changed so there is a little balance. If you sense your getting abused, you are! My advice is RUN!

Men are usually bigger and stronger.
Of course women can beat up men and if that happens they should leave. No one should take abuse from another person.

Yes, it can be. I just realized that I am one. I really didn't know that my explosions of anger and my words were considered abuse. I almost lost it all. I turned my voice inward and let myself hear me and yes, I am abusive. I hate to admit it, I must to change it. I'm on my way.

Women tend not to have such aggressive hormones and are genetically more predisposed to release their anger verbally (a.k.a. nagging)

My neighbor weighs a cool 350lbs. When the cops show up there's no question who started it or who finished it. (she does)
