I wouldn't be a vegetarian if I had to kill the animal myself. I'd get used to it. Being a vegetarian in itself is dumb unless you really just don't like the taste of any meat at all. Why? Millions of animals are killed while crops are harvested. Rabbits, rodents, etc. Think they stand a chance against those big machines harvesting? No. So what should we do - exclusively kill those animals for no reason, or actually kill some animals that we plan on eating the meat of?

I swear, there's not a better feeling in this world than showing a vegetarian how hypocritical they are. Except sex...And love... And a nice, hot, ooey gooey pepperoni pizza... And a juicy cheeseburger, cooked to perfection. Man, I'm hungry now. Take that, veggie eaters.

No I would still eat meat. I have been in a Tyson plant where they were harvesting steers and it did not bother me. Animals are not people, they are on this earth for other animals and humans to eat. What would we do with all the cattle, hogs, sheep, and chickens if we did not eat them? There are people starving all around the world who would die to feed their children quality protein. It has been proven you can survive on a vegetarian diet, but the cost is at least four times greater to get the needed proteins. Furthermore, animals eat foodstuffs that humans don't want to or can't digest, so you can't say that without animals there would be more vegetables!

I'm sure many people who enjoy hamburgers don't really want to know what happens to the cow.

In our post-agricultural society, we've lost touch with the sources of our food, and the processes that take place to put dinner on the table. Our grandfathers didn't have the luxury of being squeamish.

While I respect anyone who is a vegetarian for health reasons, I don't believe there is any ethical problem with being a carnivore. Domesticated animals deliver wonderful benefits to Man, and have been doing it for thousands of years. But they simply aren't persons. Don't fret: your pork chop doesn't need to come with a side of guilt.

No.
Humans were made to be the superior race. Animals are not people. And people is what the Bible is talking about in that verse.
And yes I would still eat meat if i did have to kill it myself because the Bible tells us to eat meat that was previously prohinited to the Jews. I live on a farm and my father has taken me hunting since I can remember. I have seen many dead animals in my life and eat many that my father has killed.

Yes, I definitely would. I think we all forget what we are eating as we chomp down burgers and steak. I have also heard stories about how pigs are killed and it is brutal. But we don't stop eating pigs. The bottom line I guess is we are all the circle of life. We are all in the food chain some how some way and it is a pretty gruesome part of life. Do you think the animals we eat would eat us if they could? I think they would.

no, i would just live off of fish and poultry, I have killed fish its called FISHING and its really not all that sad. actually its kinda fun beating em upside the head with a stick so they stop flopping around in the boat. okay i had to edit my answer when i saw the girl who said something about jews being prohibited of eating meat thats BS jews just dont eat pork, not all meat all together. Judaism was the original religion and christians just took it and added a bunch of crap to it and then got lazy and decided not to preform the rituals like the Jews do. Ugh go kill yourself already, you are a worthless peice of exsistance because you are that stupid.

I am a vegetarian--because I don't want anyone to kill an animal just so I can have a hamburger.

There is a difference between animals and humans. I don't have a problem with killing animals for food.

i think its different. . . meat eating animals eat animals always have done and always will, humans have been meat eaters for all of time so we eat animals aswell, its not often you see like a lion eat another lion which is why humans don't often eat other humans, we eat chicken or pork or something like a lion would eat a zebra. its the way things goes, like meat eating animals humans need to the source or iron and other things which is mainly only found in meat.

To be honest, when you have nothing else to eat and you are hungry, killing your own food is a necessity.

I used to live in northern Washington State, and I often saw the deer we hunted being "cleaned" and readied for cooking. It was graphic, and I remember crying, but I still ate the deer meat.

My ex-husband's family was poor growing up and he had chickens and rabbits that he watched grow up. He had to watch animals he gave names to and played with be killed. He still ate them.
