I think everyone has at least one teacher who loves to show boring movies, but that's no reason to act up. Put yourself in her shoes! Show some respect! :-)

Does the word Respect rings the bell?...I used to be a teacher back in my country and even the method applied is different from here...I think that one of the most important values is RESPECT...It doesn't matter if the rest of the class were not paying attention, you don't have to be part of the "crowd" when something like that happens...Would you like someone is misbehaving while you are trying to teach something...Now if you know you shouldn't be doing that...Why doing it?
Last but not least please instead of taking general classes take some grammar and composition classes...

Being a teacher can be one of the hardest jobs there ever could be. Your teacher was trying to teach you culture so you will have varied knowledge. You not only lost out on a great message from 'Westside Story', but you distracted other students from gaining that knowledge too. You must learn that inappropriate behavior in a public place will inhibit you in every aspect of your life and future. It isn't about being 'your own person'; it is about functioning in society where you can eventually earn a living. Please focus on RESPECT and RESTRAINT! I know you can do it.

Hmmm.....
Let's see....
No understanding of the underlying social analysis present in West Side Story, or its value to one's own life development and role in society.
No appreciation of the musical structure or subtlety of performance in a Broadway-level musical.
No understanding of the reason for school.
No understanding of how to control onself in times of boredom.
No understanding of why a teacher would be upset at negative behavior.
This question doesn't belong in special education... sped is about success in spite of extra challenges in one's life. Most sped students have normal or better smarts (only ONE of the 13 categories of sped is about overall slow learners).
This person wouldn't know opportunity for success if it came up and whacked him/her repeatedly over the head with a large frying pan.
This is the person who, 10 years from now, will be whining about how no boss appreciates how his/her mere presence in the workplace is so valuable... and how the landlord is so unreasonable to expect rent payments every month... that is, if he/she isn't wearing an orange jumpsuit and whining about how the judge didn't appreciate his/her finer qualities....

Your Teacher was watching Gang Dancing so you figure you would act out the movie.

How appropriate that you posted this question under special ed. maybe you should take another look at your obviously rude and inconsiderate behavior...
