Contact a doctor or medical official maybe...just a safety blanket. It may just be a little bump, but any doctor can guide you towards the right path.

Oh my God, the people on here are crazy! I have a 2 year old son who falls ALOT and gets bruises ALOT! They're kids -- that's what they do. That being said, it's probably nothing. My doctor told me that as long as it visibly bruises when there's a bump, it's just fine. Just check on him a few times during the night to make sure everything's OK. Also, you might want to give him some Tylenol or something to prevent a headache. Unless his eyes are crossed and he's speaking in tongues now, I'm sure he'll be just fine. This may be the first bump, but I can guarantee that it won't be the last!

I think that the information below might be useful for information purposes. But I also suggest you to ask a professional healthcarer (a doctor).

"BUMPS on the HEAD
- All the rules from above still apply (you'll have to read the whole document, follow the link: http://www1.dshs.wa.gov/pdf/ca/firstaid.pdf )
- In addition, you have to monitor the child for up to 24
bump on the head. The child should be awoken a couple
the night to make sure they can be aroused.
- Watch for the following signs after a bump on the head:
1. Loss of consciousness
2. Excessive drowsiness or tiredness
3. Multiple bouts of vomiting
4. Seizure
5. Amnesia
6. Neck pain
7. Draining fluid from ears or nose
8. Unstable walk
9. Talking funny or can’t see very well
10. Pupils are unequal
- Do not move the child if you suspect a neck injury."

I think that if you detect ANY of the signs/symptoms mentioned above, you have to IMMEDIATELY contact a doctor. You also should contact a doctor before, anyway, just to see if your baby is okay now.

it is normal to have a lot of swelling and bruising quickly when a chld/baby hits his/her head because there are a lot of blood vessels in the head.

If the baby is acting strangely, vomits, can't make eye contact or his pupils are 'off' go to hospital. Some websites/books will say to keep the child awake; although you should be alarmed if the baby wants to sleep immediately after the bump or lose consciousness, don't refuse his regular nap or bedtime just as a precaution.

When all else fails you should call the doctor and allow her/him to tell you to relax.

Hoping the little guy is feeling better.

apply some ice.when getting a bump after falling is good now when it is sunk in instead of out then thats bad.
do not let him sleep for an hour or two.
make sure he will follow ur finger and is walking as usual. and get him to talk a little. make sure he doesnt have a fever too. and he may have a slight headache after the fall so it wouldnt be a bad idea to give him some childrens advil or whatever u use.
he should be okay though but thats what i always check for when my children bump their heads. because a im a paraniod mother. my baby has siezures so....
well hope this helps.

If the poor boy didn't get knocked out and it just happened and he seems ok mentally just put some ice on it to cut down on the swelling and black and blue mark. He's a boy,not easily broken but easily bruised from bumps and falls so get use to it . Unless of course he fell from the top of a bookcase or off the roof.

Babies bump themselves constantly - dont worry too much but keep an eye on him for a few hours -if he isnt worried by it and you are not either then it will be ok. However if he becomes very sleepy or grizzly and out of sorts - an as a Mum you will know if things are not right - then take him to your local Dr. for a check up. However, I beleive if he seems fine and you are too, he will be ok. If you have any concerns however then off you go to the Dr. Happy Mothering

10 months old, I would not be worried. A bruise is a good sign. If it were not bruised, then you might be worried, because that is a sign that iternal bleeding is occuring. But if there is a bruise, i find no reason to take him to the doctor, since this is just an injury on the outside of the sculp.

My son fell out of a shopping cart onto a cement floor in Mexico, on his head, while we were travelling, he was about 14 months old. It was awful, and I took him to an emergency room (which was actually nice and clean!) and he was fine. Your son is probably okay as well, just make sure he doesn't seem dizzy or doesn't throw up, those are signs of a concussion.
