I've withdrawn from a govt polytechnic to go abroad to do undergo a training programme for personal development reasons. I've come back and want to do my tertiary education in a private academy due to family committments that is preventing me from going back to polytechnic as a full time student. I want to know which specialization or field of study is best and relavent for our economy for the nez 10 yrs...

In my opinion

while staying relavant is important for job security, chossing a field or job of interest is equally important. If we are not interested in that field, it is unlikely to be motivated and do well. Grades and Job Performance may be affected.

Another point to note is that some companies and most govt related offices do not recognise dipolmas or degree from private academy. If you can only do part-time courses, why not consider doing so at one of our local polytechnics, they do offer part-time dipolmas courses and classes are mainly at night.

Fields that will always stay relevant are those that unlikely to be outsourced to some foreign cheaper workers, eg Police, Prison Warden, Custom Officers, Immigration Officers, Armed Forces, etc

Others that will stay in demand are Health Care, Elder Care and Child Care (especially for kids with special needs).

You should study what you're interested in. Then your career will also be your interest and that makes for a good work life.

But if you want to know what's growing fast, the infocomm industry is a good place to start. The media is another good place to start.
