its in my belief that video games dont have any effect on ppl, as much as people in their family does, and as I watch a re-run a the daily show with Jon Stewart and his bit on the senate attacking video games confirmed the fact, one of the senators said he was watching his six year old children play these video games and was horrifided by the game, the key word was watching. so where do you all stand on the subject

ive played every video game that the senate attacks, and im one on the most peaceful peoplein the world.

and you cant be violent if your addicted to the game, other then mugging someone to buy the sequal to the game

another thing that concerns me about what the senate said was that inner city kids are more likely to imitate video games then suburban kids, and if thats true then those inner city kids probably was already violent, video games just keep them off the street for a while

Im more affected by the news then video game, hell video games teach something, the news just spits garbage , and Im not taking about the actaul news, Im talking about the ones reporting new. I watch the news for about two weeks in preperation for a event in my life, and almost died after it was over, I became a walking vege. and wanted to kill myself, luckly the Daily show came off of there break and saved me

I have come to the conclusion after some years in keeping track of the persons we hear on the news that either killed themselves or others as a result of video games that those persons that commit such crimes were already mentally defective long before they bought a game. I play World of warcraft and have never once thought to kill myself JUST because i didnt get new gear, unlike some people.

Parents need to be more aware of the things that their children do and what they play, if i ever had a kid and he/she wanted a game called "stabbity/kill blood bonanza", I would raise some questions. Thats why we have rating systems on all three sides of the box. The BIG M means MATURE. Video Games are not just for little kids and parents need to realize this before a perfectly good form of media is destroyed.

I'm with you. I also don't believe in trying to legislate morality. I understand parents being concerned about their kids. But to me, video games may just show a side of a person, but does not cause the initial characteristic. I've played vice city, myself, and I'll admit, I liked the way the story kept going, and got deeper, but some of the action was a bit disturbing. But just because I went ahead and killed some of the people on there, does not mean I would ever do it in real life.

Just like computers, if you are on them constantly then you have become addicted. You need to find some other types of hobbies to do that takes you places and gets you out of the house.

It certainly seems to affect spelling and grammar; not that thats a crime or anything, its just a shame.
