In my condo, there is no 4th, 14th, or 24th floor because some Chinese people would refuse to move in, since the #4 sounds like the word "death" in Chinese. Would YOU live on floor #4 of a building?

btw, my background's Chinese but I was born in Canada, so I'm taught to be afraid of the number 13 instead.

Haha...I'd love to live on floor 4 of a building with the number 44444, and I'm Chinese. I think it depends on the person you talk to. If you're talking to your Chinese grandmother, there's a higher chance that she will be superstitious and will fear the number 4.
However, if you're talking to an ABC (American born Chinese), chances are, they won't care much. It's just a culture thing.

Yeah, I'm Chinese, lived in China till 6 years ago, 4 is considered bad luck sometimes like you said, but most times people wouldn't take it that seriously, there are 4th floors in all the buildings I've seen, but normally you don't want tooo many 4s in a phone number / car number plate when you can choose one. I would live on a 4th floor if I have no other choice, or if the same apartment cost a lot more in other floors.
6 and 8 are considered lucky numbers, cause 6 means everything goes smoothly and 8 means make a fortune

I've never been to China - but I live in Japan, and people here use the word 'shi' for 4 - despite the fact that it can also mean 'death'! The thing is though, that in Japan there's another word for 4, 'yon', but STILL people use 'shi'! So, in Japan at least, it's not such a big deal..!
There are also lots of 4s in buildings, and I've never come across a building that skips the 4th floor! We live on the 5th floor, but lots of our neighbours live on the 4th..! And they're Japanese of course..! (I've never bothered looking at hospital rooms though, but I've heard rumours - from people who've never been to Japan or China - that hospital rooms are never given the number 4!)

Will you ever stop making me laugh (just me)!! Did not even have to read your explanation !!
I might not be Chinese but I know that the sound 4 equals with death.....(whatever my English is now..too much time spent with the frogs)...
Did you hear about that HK guy who spent LOADS of $$$ to get a cell phone number just having 8 numbers.......?
I know I 'm doomed because my own phone no starts with a 4....
and s.t..my cell has a 4 in it too.....but has a 8 !!
I've been told that I have 4 reincarnations to live now..........does it mean I will end up in hell ???
Oh heck.......I just break mirrors on purpose, go under ladders, etc just to see what happens........(I should be sorry by now !!!)
