Forget about the 'six weeks' stuff. It all depends on you.

As soon as you and your spouse are ready. It also depends whether you were injured during childbirth - if you had an episiotomy especially, the opening of the vagina may be too small / tender to allow comfortable penetration. So, for the first time, you have to set the pace. Talk to your partner before you begin

And be careful, women can be fertile as soon as two weeks following delivery

The average wait is 6 weeks to have sex after having a baby; the doctor will tell you at your check up when you can have sex again. As to whether or not you will enjoy it is entirely up to you.

You MUST wait at least 3 weeks, they advise 6, but I was at 4 and it was okay, it hurt but not because I wasn't healed. You don't "stretch out" as some people think, they muscles are made to let to baby through and you go back pretty much to normal. It might hurt for a bit until you get used to it again (come on you had a baby!) but it'll be okay. buy some lubricant for the first few times, that is advice I wish I'd had!

Hun you might want to wait until around 3-6 after you have the baby or maybe even wait until your next app. with the doctor. you can always call the doctor and ask because some people are different then others. if you feel like you are feeling OK to do it then call your doctor and tell him and see what he thinks cause he will ask you more questions then what i told you and just to be on the safe side. you don't want to hurt what already hurts you know..good luck ...

Was supposed to wait 6 weeks, but barely made it to 4 weeks. It hurt a little at first, but felt good after I got used to it again.

The standard advice is not to have sex till 6 weeks later. However if there was sever trauma, this could be longer.

my son is 20 months tomorrow and at times it still hurts. It took me 6 months before I could have sex again after giving birth to my son. It hurt no matter what my husband tried, condoms, no condoms, lube, no lube, it just didn't matter.
