do you put hardwood under appliances? What do you do to keep the range from being higher than cabinets in an existing cabinet situation?

The feet on these appliances set back a bit from the front of the unit. You can simply take your wood to the edge of the appliance, or just under its 'kickplate', and stop there. That is the easiest solution. And, I would put a couple of shims down, starting at just under the appliance front feet.... making a miniature 'ramp' for the appliance to slide up, if you ever needed to pull it out from the wall. You can purchase a small package of shims from any hardware store. Just glue them in place, or nail them down.

The more difficult solution, would be to remove all of your floor cabinets and appliances, and then cover the entire floor with the new flooring. this would raise everything.

Good Luck!

You adjust the screw in feet on the bottom of the range. Whoever told you could not have wood flooring in the kitchen because of range/dishwasher height difference was feeding you a line of crap. Both appliances come with adjustable feet. If your feet are missing go to Lowes, Depot, or Ace and spend $5 to replace them.

Well, you could cheap out and only put down wood in front of everything, and then line with baseboards.
