Defenders of a good, all powerful, and all knowing God have to explain why two kinds of evil exist, not just one. The two kinds are chosen evil (rape, torture, murder, etc.) and unchosen evil (diseases, natural disasters, etc.).
First they will say chosen evil must exist so that we can have free will. Okay, let's allow them that. Score a point for their God.
Next they will say that unchosen evil must exist so that we can appreciate the good - that good cannot exist except in contrast with evil. There are two things wrong with that answer. First, it admits that God is incapable of creating a world in which good is absolute (non-relative). Second, even if we allow them the claim that good must be relative to evil, the question remains why *so very much* evil is necessary to make us appreciate the good. To say that there needs to be as much unchosen evil in the world as there is so that we can recognize and appreciate the good is like saying that we could not tell the difference between black and white in a picture unless at least half the picture was black.
As a last resort, they will say evil does not exist - that what seems an evil is only an absence of good. This is like saying that there is no black paint on the canvas, there is only an absence of white paint - accepting it as an answer requires one to wilfully insult one's own intelligence.
The problem of evil remains - it has not been solved.

rain pours over both the good and the bad
God created each individual to be a gift to other people
Each and everyone is God's instrument to ease each other's sufferings and eliminate evil
have you ever been in a situation where you helped out a friend with his problem? I'm sure one way or another you have experienced this.
So don't say He's not doing anything because he created you to help out other people.
We aren't created to live only for ourselves you know

All mankind still have choices. God can direct you to make the correct choices, but he can't force you to make them or coerce you. He even knows which choices you're going to make from the beginning of your existence. He's doing something - grieving over the sins in this world and rejoicing in the salvations. Do you remember Adam and Eve? Well, they were the beginning of the suffering and the distress and they WERE warned!!!!!!!!!

If their is A God, why would he/she/it get involved? You must remember that God and religion are two different things. Religion is man made, therefor, man reasoning is the basis for it not God reasoning. It is impossible to comprehend God reasoning because their is no proof that God exists. Look to your self to find the answers you seek. Not God or religion

He does not have to...He knows that He created human with capability to figure out how not to suffer. We neglecting that great opportunity over and over again, rather pointing on a sky, blaming God..What a Grande scape goat...

God does what he can to help people but people have to help themselves too. All the evil and suffering is being caused by Satan and people have to push him out of their lives.

*sigh* Why do people ask this question.
Does cold exist? No, it is simply the absence of heat.
Does dark exist? No, it is the absence of light.
Does suffering and distress exist? Well, I cannot say no to this one, because it does, but it is simply the absence of God.

God is not the one who allows this, people do. We have free will given to us from God, remember?
