You have many options from being artificially inseminated to adoption (depending on what state you live in). If you live in the western US and have insurance Kaiser will pay 50% of your insemination costs (not including the sperm, you have to pay for that). If you are adopting alone the process is much simpler, but a second parent adoption is an option if you have a wife (so that you are both the legal parents of the child(ren)). A second parent adoption is always necessary because even if your wife in CA has a child and you are the legal parent there the moment you leave CA you are no longer that child's parent. There are a lot of websites out there that can link you to some wonderful resources.

Sure -- marry a guy, have sex with him, and give the child a loving environment involving a mother and a father, both of whose parenting styles are needed to raise the child in the best way.
Or you can try to have it both ways -- adopt an 'alternative' sexual lifestyle which eliminates the possibility of conceiving a child, but become a 'mother' to a child for your own selfish reasons rather than the child's.

The only thing I can suggest is adopt or use donor sperm. I have two close friends that have been together many years and have a little girl together, and they used donor sperm. They got pregnant on their second try. You can enlist the help of a friend, and have him sign away his parental rights so your partner can adopt, hopefully your state allows same sex partners to adopt children. If I remember corectly, there are 8 states that allow same sex partners to adopt, I know California is one of them. You can also use a sperm bank. You can even buy sperm online.

You could go to a sperm bank, but that may expensive. Do you have any male friends who would be willing to donate sperm? You could have him ejaculate into a jar or something, then insert it yourself (or have your girlfriend help) using a turkey baster or something of that nature.
