My brother and i were having and argument and he said women are not as important than men.

Both are. They create balance and both have their pros and cons.
Men:
-Sexual oriented
-Start wars
-Violent
-dirty
-dangerous
-more likely to do drugs
-absorved into stupid interests
women
-drama queens
-they always want commitment no matter wether there is love or not
-cannot get along with other women
-self obsessed with their looks
-rational
-not violent
-bad drivers

Men need women and this is on many levels in society, which makes women more important, but on the whole there are more women in the world than men, so this makes men seem more important or rather in demand.
Your both right to some degree, but women are the stronger gender and that is truth.

For species propogation both are necessary. However, if this were strictly a social question, at this time in the world, men are still regarded a the more "important" sex.

Well, according to the Christian Bible, men are more important.
And Jesus was a man, and some claim he was God, so that makes the man more important again. Get rid of religion, and then women will have a chance to gain equalilty.

In the Beginning God created heavens and earth.
God gives you air to breathe and sunshine to enjoy.
God gives you water to drink and food to eat.
God gives you a wonderful body and sound mind, to live.
God loves you, and you are precious to Him.
Son of God died on the Cross to save us from condemnation.
Jesus’ love is boundless and everlasting.
We have the hope of Heaven through Jesus.
Life therefore has fantastic and glorious future!
