How do you download objects/clothes for the Sims 2?

Everytime I try to download objects on Sims 2 websites it never works. It saves the file and makes it impossible to open. How do you do it? Can you give me a step-by-step instruction? Please help me!

you should have to go to the website and then it will give a list of sites and you can do it there
