We recently went camping, had all our tents up. (All of our food was stored into our vehicles, along with the garbage, in bags so animals could not smell this).About 11:00 we are settleing down into our sleeping bags getting ready for a good nights sleep, when out of nowhere we hear the most scariest sounds coming from DEEP into the woodscoming closer. Needless to say everybody is asking," did you hear that?" " what was that?". Its pitch black outside, can not even see the moon, and all of a sudden, its drawing closer and the sounds of leaves rustling and sticks are breaking. And again, this sound is so scarry it sounded like a low growl and a screech ( not an owl sound). We all jumped up, grabbed a few pillows and got into our vehicles. We turned on our headlights, but seen absolutely nothing. We went to sleep. Only to be awoken again at 2:30 by the same thing. And again headlights on , nothing.Went back to sleep. Woke up at 7 am, went out to explore only to find these strange looking

The prints you saw were probably from deer but did not have anything to do with the noise you herad. What you heard was probably the sound of two or more raccoons fighting over a female. We have them all over this area and when they get fighting it sounds like the gates of hell have opened. The first time I heard it I couldn't sleep all night. You get used to it if you live any where near woods.

Is there any chance it was a domestic pig gotten loose from a farm? I don't *think* there's boar in that area.
