A baby boomer is someone born to the post WW II generation between 1946-1962. Its called a "boom" because during the war years men and women deferred getting married and having children. After the war, millions of couples got married within a few years producing a population explosion and fueling the move out of the cities into new houses in the suburbs.

In World War Two when boyfriends came back from war was the time when they got married and had kids really quickly.That is a Baby Boomer!

A Baby Boomer is anyone born between 1945 (end of WWII) and 1970 (The start of Gen X). There is wide disagreements about the latter date but the first is pretty well agreed upon.

Hope you'll give the points to someone (above) who knows what they're talking about! WW2 ended in 1945; babies started coming thick & fast in 1946. 1950s prosperity led to big families, which sort of reached the end in about 1964. Biggest single generation in American history; sometimes it's referred to as "the pig in the python", since it's like a huge bulge that has changed everything it encountered as it moved through the snake...(Which is why when we start retiring, look out....)
